WE BUILD BRIDGES

The East-West Chamber Orchestra brings together soloists and leading orchestra players from Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Estonia, Japan, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and others in order to strengthen the bonds and cultural co-operations between Eastern- and Western Europe as well as all over the world. The members of the Orchestra are outstanding performers in their own right – concertmasters and leaders of renowned orchestras, professors of music academies as well as winners of the most prestigious competitions worldwide, including the Tchaikovsky, ARD, Long-Thibaud and the Paganini.

The pool of musicians participating not only includes very acclaimed soloists such as Tatsuki Narita, Niklas Liepe, Eva Bindere, Alissa Margulis, Hildegarde Fesneau, Sharon Roffman, Alexander Buzlov and Evgeny Rumyantsev, but it is also a gathering of the finest instruments including Guarneri-del-Gesus, Guadagninis and Stradivaris. This rare combination gives the East-West Chamber Orchestra its distinguished sound.

Founded 2015 as orchestra in-residence for the Yuri Bashmet International Music Festival, the Orchestra not only gets together during festival times but also for concerts during each concert season and projects touring Europe. The Orchestra understands itself as an ambassador for transnational collaboration, peace and cultural interaction across Europe and beyond.

The orchestra collaborates with finest soloists like Paul Badura-Skoda, Julian Rachlin, Yuri Bashmet, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Sergey Krylov, Alexander Knyazev, Ksenija Sidorova, Vivian Hagner among others. The orchestra was highly acclaimed by the public and critic and all of its concerts became the most successful  as well as earliest sold-out events at the Bashmet Festival.

East-West Chamber Orchestra also takes part regularly in charity events for children working with UNICEF.

They are also experts in creating new exceptional projects such as for example first concert in Belarus history - “The Classical Night in Underground”, when the metro station was transformed into a real concert hall with stage, lights, lasers and projection only in couple of hours. This conert was given to the wide public with program including Mozart Requiem excerpts and Tchaikovsky String Serenade. Also, regular collaboration of the orchestra with winners of World- and Europe- Championships of rhythmic gymnastics is an example of such exclusive activities.

East-West Chamber Orchestra is an active promoter of contemporary music and new repertoire. The release of Miezsyslaw Weinberg Chamber Symphonies 1 and 3, which was  released by Naxos in 2019 was a great success worldwide including Gramophone, nominations to ICMA as well as Opus Klassik. In 2022 Naxos will release their Chamber Symphonies 2 and 4 to complete the serie.

Chief-Conductor and Artistic Director Rostislav Krimer is also the Artistic Director of the Yuri Bashmet International Music Festival, which annually sees world-class artists over the last decade. Founding the Orchestra was the natural next step for the highly acclaimed pianist who is the duo partner of many well-known soloists, including Maxim Vengerov, Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, Sergey Krylov, Julian Rachlin and Victor Tretyakov.
